History
Drukkerij De Melle was founded in the late 1960s as a small commercial printing company by Frans Daniels. This remained so until a pharmaceutical printing company was acquired in 1992. Because of this takeover and the expansion our company experienced, we had to look for a new location. Since 1995, we have been located on the Veedijk industrial site in Turnhout.
The company grew into a commercial group led by Guy Daniels.
In 1998, we took over prepress company DPB to be able to offer our clients a total package from design to finished product. Later that year, Drukkerij De Melle obtained its ISO9001 certification.
Meanwhile, the company continued to grow and in 1999 we started building a new production hall to accommodate our postpress department.
In 2003, our prepress department received its first upgrade with the installation of an AGFA Excalibur platesetter Films became a thing of the past, only CTP. This was replaced by an AGFA Avalon in 2007 to keep up with increasing plate production.
In 2013, the construction of a completely new building (phase 1 – project 2020) was started, 2 production halls (+500 m2). Initially, this housed the paper warehouse and the expanded postpress department.
In 2019, the second phase was started, the construction of 3 production halls and a fully up-to-date office building that was commissioned January 2020. This was accompanied by a change of address, from now on we will be located at Treskesdijk 1 in Turnhout.
2 years later, in August 2021, our own rooftop solar park generated its first kWh.
At the end of 2022, we started work on our own wind turbine. From August 2023, it also produces green energy for us.
